Wonderful prizes were donated. The first place trophy handmade in Morocco, will include the engraved names of the first place foursome and given to them for one year, until our next tournament. We hope you will be there to compete for its proud placement in your home!
Beautiful weather greeted our 22 golfers for a perfect day on the Thanksgiving Point Golf Course. The morning started with a sumptuous spread of fresh bagels, muffins, fruit, juice and coffee. Co-founder and CEO Dr. Mohammed Sbia explained the rules of the tournament, and the games began!
While the troops were out on the course, volunteer troops were preparing a Moroccan feast for lunch! This included Cynthia Douglass, Julie Mayhew, and Dr. Sbia. Lunch was served in to-go containers and delivered on the course. What service! This year’s feast included traditional Moroccan sticky rice, spinach & eggplant rice pilaf, Moroccan-style eggplant spread on toast, chicken kabob, shrimp and beef bri’waat (absolutely scrumptious), and caramel apple pies for dessert.
Competition was fierce, and the winning foursome scored 15 under par. Unfortunately, there was no hole-in-one winner, leaving the fully funded vacation trip to Morocco for next year!
Congratulations to our winners, and to all who participated in this fun annual fundraising event. Not only did you contribute to bringing neuro-rehabilitation services to Morocco, but you also took the time to show your support for Zahra Charity, for its work and mission, and you had a great time while meeting new friends and colleagues. We very much enjoyed meeting you.
To our donors, we give grateful thanks for the many gifts offered for this organization, for the food, the sponsorship, the prizes, and the gift certificates. Your generous support and contributions helps to sustain this annual tradition that brings the community together around a great cause.
One additional, huge coup for this year’s ZC Golf Tournament fundraiser was the donation of a spectacular large giclée print by Josée Nadeau. Ms. Nadeau is a world-renown impressionist painter who mentored with art expert Gerald Van der Kemp, former curator of Giverny, Claude Monet’s home and gardens in France. The giclée will be sold in a silent auction to benefit Zahra Charity. Further details about this event will be forthcoming soon!
